Welcome
To
Federal Democratic Republic
of
Nepal

Previously, Nepal was scattered in many small state and later on the modern state of Nepal was formed with unification of Nepal by Prithvi Narayan Shah on December 21, 1768. Prior to 2006, Nepal was a Kingdom and one of the Monarch systems. At present, Nepal became a Federal Democratic Republic. Its recent history has involved struggles for Democratic Government with periods of direct Monarch rule. From that time, Nepal suffered from a civil war between government forces and guerrillas of the communist party of Nepal (Maoist). On December 28, 2007 the Interim Parliament passed a bill and declared Nepal to be a Federal Democratic Republic. The newly formed interim parliament declared Nepal a democratic federal republic at its first meeting in May 2008, the king vacated the throne in mid-June 2008, and parliament elected the country's first president the following month.
